As an online writing coach, I help aspiring and established freelance writers pitch and write articles for their dream publications and earn great money by landing high-paying content writing work.
Deep down, I’ve always felt like I was a writer.
For years, I ripped out articles that I loved from magazines and newspapers and would read them again and again.
Each time I collected another story, I’d think, “Imagine what it would be like to write articles like that. To tell stories that resonate so much with people that they want to hold onto them forever.”
I knew I wanted to do that, but I didn’t know how.
I was on maternity leave from my job as a social worker when I submitted an article to a parenting publication.
It got commissioned (which means the editor wanted to publish it) and I got paid $400.
I remember being astonished, thinking – “People are going to pay me to write!”
From that moment, my life changed.
I realised just how many publications are ‘out there’ (thousands!) that are looking to pay freelance writers to write articles for them.
I also realised that by combining feature writing for magazines and newspapers with content writing for businesses, organisations and universities, I could earn a really great living.
In my first 11 months of full time freelance writing, I made over $100K, and in the following years I hit that target over and over.
And now students inside The Freelancer’s Year programs are also seeing life-changing results.
I’ve had my byline appear in a range of digital and print publications like The New York Times and Vogue!
I felt completely out of my depth contacting editors but Lindy provided helpful and effective pitching advice, which I still refer to each and every week.
